• Having qualification in operating the main and auxilary engines, electrical power, heating, refrigation and water systems.
  • Possessing Certificate of Competency and Proficiency from International Maritime Organization (IMO) as per STCW'95. For Fishing boat, engineer also has Fishing License from Fisheries and Marine Department.
  • Having a minimum of 2-year working experience at the same position and type of ship.
  • Having good English communication and attitudes.
  • Valid certificates for Competency and Proficiency from International Maritime Organization (IMO) as per STCW'95.
  • Provide skill to handle navigational safety equpiments and provide their knowledge about Collision Regulation and MARPOL.
  • Having qualification in operating and maintaining fishing gear equipment as well as fishing handling.

It is different with our previons ancestors, they grew and become sailors naturally. Theirs characters were changed and develop by nature. Now a days, we still have such characters and talents, but should be supported by sufficient educations. That's why all crews, officers and ratings should have professional education, such as Marine Academies for officers and rating for ratings. So far, there have been 21 Marine Academics and 36 ratings schools in Indonesia. They base the curriculum and IMO Standards (STCW 95)
The crew also attend courses, besides professional education, as required by IMO such as Basic Safety Training, GMDSS/GOC, Radar Observation, Tanks Familiarization a so fortf, that are performed based on the standard of STCW 95.
